Ana Mouyisis an Illustrator, Animator, Filmmaker, and Educator. She grew up in Nicosia, Cyprus and spent much of her adult life living and working in New York City where she earned a BFA in Illustration from Parsons the New School for Design (2009) and an MFA in Animation and Motion Arts from Pratt institute (2016). She is now based in Boston, MA where she works as Assistant Professor of Animation at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Since 2009 she has worked as a commercial artist specializing in illustration and animation, some of her clients have included: The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The School of Life, The Atlantic and STARZ.
In addition to client work, she directs and animates independent short films. Her work has been screened at the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival in Bristol, England, Animation Block Party in Brooklyn, NY, KLIK! Animation Festival in Amsterdam and numerous other film festivals all over the world. Her first film Pussy! (2015) received an Art Directors Club Bronze Cube Award, her film Dahlia (2017) won Best Animation in the National Competition at Animafest Cyprus, and Cambia Tutto (2019) was awarded Best Experimental Short at The Americas Film Festival in New York.
In the summer of 2021 she was an artist in residence at Animafest Cyprus where she presented a solo exhibition entitled To Your Hands which features an experimental animated documentary installation. The animated documentary of the same name is currently in the festival circuit.
